October Outreach Update
October: Newnan Coweta Humane Society and CORRALJames 1:6 "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind"
Blessing of the Animals: October 12th 4pm Church Parking Lot--All creatures great and small are invited to join us for a beautiful Blessing of the Animals. We will also be receiving donations for the Newnan Coweta Humane Society if you are able. Food, Cat Litter, Treats are all welcome!
Here is a recent update on the activities at NCHS and CORRAL and how our support truly impacts them to help the residents of Coweta County.
NCHS:
We were fortunate to receive an Atlanta Humane Society grant. Kennels have been enlarged (Full capacity at Pokey’s is 9 dogs.). Future improvements are paving the back driveway, having electricity in the Pet Food Pantry and storage shed, curb appeal outside, and “lobby appeal” inside. Our new president, Bill Johnson, is perfect in his leadership role and is doing the grant writing; he’d love to pass that along to someone else. (volunteer opportunity!)
Our 50th Year celebration (September 6) was a success. We brought in over $10,000 through live auction, silent auction, sponsorships, etc. We have 25 dogs in our care; 80-some cats/kittens in our care. Most of our pets are in foster care. The funds from NPC have been helpful for vet bills, Science Hills food for the dogs at Pokey’s, and pet food for the pantry clients (usually 55-65 families each month).
CORRAL:
We have another new horse, Mo. He is 16 hands tall and off the track thoroughbred. His registered name is Uncle Mo Mo. He is 9 years old; Marie reports that he is a sweetheart. I met him…he is very sweet…tall, very tall! Funds from NPC help with treats, items we may need for the lessons that are taught, vet bills, misc. essentials, and …one never knows when a horse has something wrong with a foot or needs teeth checked! $$$
We also have someone who is coming to feed the horses in the AM/PM. This is a needed addition. So, having extra money does give us some breathing room with our budget.
