September Volunteer Opportunities


One of my goals was to start offering actual volunteer opportunities, and finally, that is happening.  Here are some volunteer opportunities in our community!  -Dale

Volunteer Opportunity:
#ServeCoweta: September 20th

Community-Wide Service Day at Carl Miller Park (Newnan Utilities), kickoff at 9 a.m.
Sign-up required in advance.

Volunteer Opportunity:  
Habitat for Humanity: Next build at 2141 Sharpsburg McCollum Rd  
Paint dates: October 30 & 31  
Landscape dates: November 14 & 15 (NPC Garden Club involved but more help needed)  
Shifts: 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  
Volunteers needed: At least 10–12 people

Volunteer Opportunity:  
ReStart Thrift Store  
NEST-ReStart supports homeless individuals and families in becoming self-sustainable by providing year-round case management and referrals. 
To fund this program, a thrift store is being opened at 28 Salbide Ave.  
Volunteers needed to help run the store. 
Move-in date TBD.

October Outreach Update

A time for fall foliage, pumpkins, costumes, and cooler weather--AND, Blessing of the Animals! We were thrilled to join with the Episcopal church this year at Line Creek Brewery for a festive and fun blessing for the many animals. Newnan Coweta Humane Society was thrilled with the numerous donations made to Pokey's Place. We also celebrated CORRAL in October and it showed in the tremendous monetary donations made to help support the work they do with their riding therapy program. If you want to continue supporting these organizations during the year, please contact the organizations directly for how you can get more involved! Stay tuned for an exciting November as we support Bridging the Gap--to provide Thanksgiving meals to those in need and the annual Christmas in Coweta program. Last Outreach Workshop of the year will be Sunday, Nov 17th immediately following the service. This is our annual cookie swap --so come by and enjoy some goodies!

2024 Bridging the Gap "Christmas in Coweta" Update

"An astounding 2285 Kids were Served through Christmas in Coweta! 🎁🎅 This program would not be possible without the 19 churches ⛪️ 6 schools 🏫 23 businesses 🧱 9 communities or civic groups 🤝 and 86 individuals who shared Christmas cheer to kids! This truly shows the power of community and kindness! 💫 A HUGE thank you to Brent Scarbrough & Company, Inc. for their unwavering support and use of their hanger! 🙌 Without them, this event wouldn't have been possible. Rise Against Hunger - Thank you!

  A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers This past Sunday on August 11, 2024, 115 volunteers gathered together in Barrow Hall for a meal packing event for Rise Against Hunger.  Volunteers came together with a shared mission: to combat hunger and provide hope to communities in need. This event was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our incredible volunteers. We packed 14,256 meals!!! In the past 9 years, Newnan Presbyterian Church has packed 130,655 meals and they have provided food to places like Haiti, Sierra Leone, Philippines and Zambia.  Incredible job everyone!!! Faith truly in Action. Their efforts, along with those of many other volunteers, highlight the profound impact that a community can have when united by a common cause.
