Blessing of the Animals

The annual Blessing of the Animals at Newnan Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 12th, was a wonderful celebration, welcoming beloved pets from dogs and cats to an impressive horse. A vital component of this joyous event was the collection of generous donations for the Newnan Coweta Humane Society (NCHS) and CORRAL, the Coweta Organization for Riding, Rehabilitation and Learning. This event beautifully honors the unconditional love and joy that companion animals bring to their human families.

The much-needed financial and supply contributions directly support the NCHS's mission of rescuing and rehoming homeless pets and aid CORRAL in providing therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with physical and mental challenges. The significance of the blessing extends beyond a simple prayer, serving as a powerful reminder of humanity's role as stewards of all God's creation, following the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi. By hosting such an inclusive ceremony and coordinating community aid, the church fosters a deeper sense of fellowship among pet owners and promotes compassion for all creatures great and small.

Ultimately, the practical support and spiritual ritual strengthen the bond between pets, their families, the community, and the divine, acknowledging these animals as cherished gifts and inspiring tangible acts of care.
