August Updates: Outreach
August: Global Missions Month
Matthew 21:22 "Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."
Our local missions are thriving and we are thrilled to have fed over 500 children the week of July 22nd in cooperation with Bridging the Gap and their Summer Lunch Program. At the end of the week, Backpack Buddies and Aid Atlanta provided additional support to the children with supplies for the upcoming school year! THANK YOU to all of our incredible volunteers and especially to Larry Harkleroad for leading the way all week!! NPC--your Faith in Action is AMAZING!!!
Another huge thank you for the overwhelming emergency donations from our congregation for Bridging the Gap!! We donated over $7000 to BTG which of course became $14,000 with their outside sponsor matching our donation. They have been able to purchase pears, oranges, and apples and continue to source large quantities of vegetables. The generosity of our church is so appreciated and truly amazing!!
We are very excited to highlight our Global Missions this month!
August 11th: Rise Against Hunger is back!! If you have participated in the past, you know what an amazing opportunity and experience this can be. Our goal is 14,256 meals this year!! Watch for sign ups--we will need help the day before to set up tables. Starting at 830 Sunday morning with the arrival of the food and then clean up following our event!
August 18th: Pura Vida: our very own Janie Williams will be here to tell us more about this incredible organization. She has a lifetime of experience in non-profit and educational endeavors having taught in the classroom, served on the school district board of directors, and assisted in establishing and sustaining 501(c)(3) organizations. She has a passion for Pura Vida's Mission of facilitating the sharing of resources with communities in Guatemala with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for children and building homes in rural villages of the Chichicastenango region giving in such a way that beneficiaries become more self-sufficient in the long term.
Our service that day will be led by our youth and Andrea--a perfect backdrop for Janie's minute for mission--and stick around after church and have some Guatemala coffee and snacks and learn more about this incredible organization!
August 25th: Merida: We have been privileged to be involved with the church in Sitpatch and the work trips that have been done to build the church and school Watching this community grow and continue to provide even more to their local community through our mission trips is an incredible success story. Please come join us this Sunday to learn where we are at today with Merida and how we see our work there in the future. Stay for a Mexican themed lunch following the service!!
Do you want to be more involved in Outreach? Do you have a passion for mission work whether it is here locally or abroad--then come join us for our next Outreach Workshop in Sept--stay tuned for more details!! -Dale
