August: Global Missions Month   Matthew 21:22 "Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."  Our local missions are thriving and we are thrilled to have fed over 500 children the week of July 22nd in cooperation with Bridging the Gap and their Summer Lunch Program.  At the end of the week, Backpack Buddies and Aid Atlanta provided additional support to the children with supplies for the upcoming school year! THANK YOU to all of our incredible volunteers and especially to Larry Harkleroad for leading the way all week!! NPC--your Faith in Action is AMAZING!!! Another huge thank you for the overwhelming emergency donations from our congregation for Bridging the Gap!! Our July English Camp and Construction teams have arrived in Chichicastenango and are preparing for the work week. Travel began for our teams on the 4th of July and included being picked up at the Guatemala City airport in our chicken bus, 'Super Nina' (see photo below), and one night's stay in Antigua. This morning our team enjoyed a tour of Ecofiltro Guatemala. Led by Founder and CEO Philip Wilson, we learned a great deal about the work Ecofiltro is doing to bring clean water to families in need throughout Guatemala.  https://ecofiltro....

NPC Family, The Outreach Ministry has learned of a dire need for fruits and vegetables at Bridging the Gap. BTG is experiencing a "fresh produce drought" and the roughly 750 families that are served every week are suffering. However, because of BTG's participation with the Atlanta Food Bank, they can purchase 12 pounds of canned fruits and vegetables for every dollar we donate. With that in mind, the Outreach Ministry is writing a check for $2500 and is challenging the congregation to match that so that we can donate $5000 to bridge this produce gap.  We have also learned that BTG has an anonymous donor who will match our donation which means that our $5K can make a $10K impact. Ten thousand dollars means 120,000 pounds of food which will help BTG feed around 3000 people per week for 5 weeks.
